Greater London was the third-most populated metropolis in Europe as of mid-2018 with a population of about 9 million, making up 13.4% of the population of the United Kingdom and more than 16% of the population of England. According to the 2011 census, the Greater London Built-up Area had 9.8 million residents, making it the fourth most populous region in all of Europe. As the capital of UK, of art, and of fashion, London is unquestionably one of the most stunning cities in the whole world.
No matter how much time you have here, there are a zillion things to do and see in London: London has the highest concentration of 5-star hotels of any city and is one of the most travelled cities in the world. London, one of the main global cities, has a significant impact on the fields of the arts, entertainment, fashion, commerce, finance, education, health care, media, science, and technology, as well as tourism, transportation, and communications.
37% of all trips in London are taken on public transportation, compared to 36% on private transportation, 24% on foot, and 2% on bicycles. The United Kingdom's train, aviation, and road transportation systems all converge on London's public transportation system as their primary hub.
With a 24-hour service, London's bus route network traverses the whole city. Numerous buses operate at night and may be recognised by adding the letter N in front of their regular number; for instance, bus number 15 becomes N15 at night.
